Know your glass

What makes GMC windshields different?

GMC offers a lot of windshield versions, especially on the Sierra and Yukon. Trim, packages and safety features decide which glass fits, so we confirm yours by VIN.

GMC Pro Safety

GMC Pro Safety and your windshield

GMC Pro Safety is standard on most newer GMCs, and Pro Safety Plus adds more on select trims. The front camera sits at the top of the windshield behind the rearview mirror. Select Sierra, Yukon and Hummer EV models also have Super Cruise hands-free driving.

When the windshield is replaced, the camera has to be recalibrated so these features work as designed.

Many GMC cameras are recalibrated with a scan tool and a road drive, and some need targets in our shop. Our technicians run a pre-scan, calibrate with Autel equipment and run a post-scan before you leave.

  • Automatic Emergency Braking

Can brake automatically to help avoid or reduce a front collision.

  • Front Pedestrian Braking

Watches for pedestrians ahead and can brake for them.

  • Forward Collision Alert

Warns you when you're closing in on the vehicle ahead too fast.

  • Lane Keep Assist

Alerts you and gently steers you back when you drift out of your lane.

  • IntelliBeam

Switches the high beams on and off for you.

  • Super Cruise

Hands-free driving on compatible highways, on select models.

GMC Pro Safety features vary by model and year. Send us your VIN and we'll confirm what your GMC has.

How ADAS recalibration works

See it in action

A static camera calibration in our shop

Targets set up in front of the car and a scan tool connected, so the camera behind the new windshield sees the road correctly.

Your glass options

GMC windshield options: OEM vs. aftermarket

You have a choice of glass, and we'll walk you through it before anything is ordered.

OEM GMC glass

Made for GMC to the original specification, with the same camera bracket, coatings and features as the glass your vehicle came with.

If you want OEM, just tell us when you request a quote and we'll check availability.

Quality aftermarket glass

Made by established glass manufacturers to fit and work in your GMC, often at a lower price.

We only install aftermarket glass that's compatible with your camera and features, and every windshield, OEM or aftermarket, is checked on our inspection stand, under high-intensity lighting, before it goes on your car.

Which glass should you choose?

If your GMC has Pro Safety features or a head-up display, OEM glass is the safest choice for the camera and the display. Using insurance? Some policies only pay for aftermarket glass. We'll check your coverage and explain any difference before you decide.

Insurance

Does insurance cover a GMC windshield?

If you have comprehensive coverage, your GMC windshield replacement may be covered, minus your deductible. When recalibration is required, it's normally part of the same claim.

We set up a three-way call with your insurance company and help you file the claim. Paying out of pocket? You'll get a clear quote that includes the glass and the recalibration.

GMC windshield FAQ

Don't see your question? Give us a call.

Call (602) 885-5330
Does my GMC need camera recalibration after a windshield replacement?

Yes, if it has GMC Pro Safety or another system with a front camera. We recalibrate it in house and confirm it with a post-scan.

Do you replace Sierra and Yukon windshields with a head-up display?

Yes. We order HUD-specific glass for GMCs with a head-up display so the image stays sharp.

Can you replace the sliding back glass on my Sierra?

Yes. We replace sliding and power sliding rear windows on Sierra and Canyon trucks.

Can I get mobile windshield replacement for my GMC?

Yes, at your home or office with covered parking. If your GMC needs a static calibration with targets, that part is done in our shop; we'll plan it with you when you book.

Can you repair a chip instead of replacing the windshield?

Often, yes. If the chip on your GMC is no bigger than a quarter, we can usually repair it in our shop: $79 for the first chip and $30 for each additional chip. Chip repairs are in-shop only.

Is there a warranty on my new GMC windshield?

Yes. Every windshield we install comes with our lifetime warranty on parts and workmanship.

Need a GMC windshield replacement?
