What makes Volkswagen windshields different?

Volkswagen builds the same model with several windshield versions depending on its equipment. We confirm yours by VIN so the glass matches your camera and sensors.

Front camera
Volkswagen's driver assistance camera mounts to the glass behind the mirror. The bracket and viewing area have to match your VW.
Rain & light sensor
Many VWs run the automatic wipers and headlights through a sensor on the glass. We reinstall it with the right gel pad.
Acoustic glass
Many Volkswagens use acoustic glass to keep the cabin quiet.
Heat-reflective glass
Select models use heat-reflective glass, which helps in the Arizona sun.

Volkswagen driver assistance and your windshield

Most newer Volkswagens have a group of driver-assistance features, with IQ.DRIVE on many models. The front camera at the top of the windshield works with radar at the front of the vehicle.

After a windshield replacement, the camera has to be recalibrated so Front Assist, Lane Assist and Travel Assist read the road correctly.

Volkswagen cameras are usually recalibrated with targets in our shop, though it depends on the model. Our technicians run a pre-scan, calibrate with Autel equipment and run a post-scan before you leave.

Front Assist
Warns you and can brake for vehicles and pedestrians ahead.
Lane Assist
Helps steer you back if you start to drift out of your lane.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Keeps a set distance from the vehicle ahead.
Travel Assist
On IQ.DRIVE models, combines cruise and lane centering.

Does insurance cover a Volkswagen windshield?

If you have comprehensive coverage, your Volkswagen windshield replacement may be covered, minus your deductible. When recalibration is required, it's normally part of the same claim.

We set up a three-way call with your insurance company and help you file the claim. Paying out of pocket? You'll get a clear quote that includes the glass and the recalibration.

Does my Volkswagen need camera recalibration after a windshield replacement?

Yes, if it has a front camera for Front Assist, Lane Assist or Travel Assist. We recalibrate it in house and confirm it with a post-scan.

Will my automatic wipers still work after the windshield is replaced?

Yes. We reinstall the rain and light sensor with the right gel pad so the auto wipers and headlights work like before.

Do you replace ID.4 windshields?

Yes. We replace ID.4 windshields and recalibrate the camera afterward.

Can I get mobile windshield replacement for my Volkswagen?

Yes, at your home or office with covered parking. If your Volkswagen needs a static calibration with targets, that part is done in our shop; we'll plan it with you when you book.

Can you repair a chip instead of replacing the windshield?

Often, yes. If the chip on your Volkswagen is no bigger than a quarter, we can usually repair it in our shop: $79 for the first chip and $30 for each additional chip. Chip repairs are in-shop only.

Is there a warranty on my new Volkswagen windshield?

Yes. Every windshield we install comes with our lifetime warranty on parts and workmanship.
