What makes Nissan windshields different?

The same Nissan model can have several windshield versions depending on trim and year. We check your VIN so the glass matches your camera and features.

Front camera
Safety Shield 360 uses a camera mounted to the glass behind the mirror. The bracket and viewing area have to match your Nissan.
Rain sensor
Select trims have rain-sensing wipers that read through the glass.
Acoustic glass
Many Nissans use acoustic glass to keep road noise out of the cabin.
Head-up display
Select upper trims have a head-up display and need HUD-specific glass.

Nissan Safety Shield 360

Nissan Safety Shield 360 and your windshield

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on most newer Nissans. Its front camera sits at the top of the windshield behind the rearview mirror. Select models also have ProPILOT Assist, which uses the same camera for steering and cruise assistance.

After a windshield replacement, the camera has to be recalibrated so these features see the road correctly.

Depending on the model, a Nissan camera is recalibrated with targets in our shop or on a road drive. Our technicians run a pre-scan, calibrate with Autel equipment and run a post-scan before you leave.

Automatic Emergency Braking
Warns you and can brake for vehicles and pedestrians ahead.
Lane Departure Warning
Alerts you if you drift out of your lane.
High Beam Assist
Switches the high beams on and off for you.
Intelligent Cruise Control
On select models, keeps a set distance from the vehicle ahead.
ProPILOT Assist
On select models, helps with steering, braking and acceleration on the highway.
Traffic Sign Recognition
On select models, shows speed limit signs on the display.

Insurance

Does insurance cover a Nissan windshield?

If you have comprehensive coverage, your Nissan windshield replacement may be covered, minus your deductible. When recalibration is required, it's normally part of the same claim.

We set up a three-way call with your insurance company and help you file the claim. Paying out of pocket? You'll get a clear quote that includes the glass and the recalibration.

Does my Nissan need camera recalibration after a windshield replacement?

Yes, if it has Safety Shield 360 or ProPILOT Assist. We recalibrate the front camera in house and confirm it with a post-scan.

Does ProPILOT Assist use the windshield camera?

Yes. ProPILOT Assist relies on the front camera behind the windshield, so it has to be recalibrated after a replacement.

Do you replace Frontier back glass?

Yes. We replace Frontier and Titan back glass, including sliding rear windows.

Can I get mobile windshield replacement for my Nissan?

Yes, at your home or office with covered parking. If your Nissan needs a static calibration with targets, that part is done in our shop; we'll plan it with you when you book.

Can you repair a chip instead of replacing the windshield?

Often, yes. If the chip on your Nissan is no bigger than a quarter, we can usually repair it in our shop: $79 for the first chip and $30 for each additional chip. Chip repairs are in-shop only.
