STEK window tint · Phoenix & the Valley
Less glare.
More comfortable miles.
Blue Chip Auto Glass installs STEK automotive window film for drivers in Phoenix and across the Valley. The right film can help reduce glare and the solar heat coming into your cabin, and we install it in a dedicated tint area in our shop.
We tint windshields, door and quarter windows, back glass and compatible sunroof or panoramic roof glass. We'll help you choose a film and shade for your glass, your visibility needs and the look you want, and confirm the published specifications for the film you select.
Replacing a windshield? We can coordinate the tint with your replacement and apply film to the new glass before it's installed.
Windshield film
Windshield UV & heat protection
Your windshield takes the most direct sun of any glass on your vehicle. STEK automotive film can help reduce the UV and solar heat that come through it, for a more comfortable cabin on Arizona drives.
Newer windshields often hold a driver-assistance camera, a rain and light sensor and sometimes a head-up display area. We review your vehicle's glass and these systems, along with film placement and applicable requirements, before we recommend an application.
UV & heat reduction
Film chosen for its published UV and solar heat performance, not just its darkness.
Cameras & sensors reviewed
We account for camera, rain sensor and head-up display areas before installation.
Tint before installation
Replacing your windshield? We can apply film to the new glass in our shop before it goes in.

Windshield replacement + tint
Tint first.
Install next.
Replacing your windshield is the easiest time to add film. We prepare the new glass and apply suitable film in our tint area, then install it as part of the same job.
Before we confirm the plan, we check your vehicle, the glass and its camera and sensor areas, and any ADAS recalibration your vehicle requires after the replacement.
Window tint percentages explained
The lower the number,
the darker the film.
Tint percentage usually refers to visible light transmission, or VLT. A 70% film lets through more visible light than a 20% film. This describes darkness, not how much UV or heat the film rejects.
| Example VLT | Appearance | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 70% | Light | A subtle appearance with more visible light passing through. |
| 50% | Light–medium | A moderate change in appearance. |
| 35% | Medium | A more noticeable shaded look. |
| 20% | Dark | More privacy, with less light reaching your eyes. |
| 5% | Very dark | Very limited light transmission; harder to see through at night. |
These are educational examples, not an availability list or approval for every window. The shade illustration is approximate.
Factory glass affects the final reading, too. As a simplified example, glass transmitting 80% of visible light combined with a 50% film would transmit roughly 40%. We consider the complete glass-and-film combination, not just the number on the roll.
Choose a shade you can comfortably see through at night. Ask us to compare current STEK film options before deciding.
Performance beyond darkness
UV, heat and glare.
Different jobs.
A dark window is not automatically a high-performance window. Match the film to your priorities: reducing UV exposure, limiting solar heat, managing glare or changing the appearance. VLT alone doesn't measure UV rejection or total solar energy rejection.
See STEK NEXseries published performance- UV protection
- UV rejection describes how much ultraviolet radiation a film filters. STEK publishes performance data for its NEXseries film; ask us for the specification of the film selected for your vehicle. It can help reduce UV exposure through treated glass and UV-related interior fading.
- Heat rejection
- Solar-control film can reduce incoming solar energy and improve cabin comfort. Compare Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER), not just a headline infrared percentage: IR rejection measures only part of the solar spectrum, and test methods matter. A tinted car still gets hot when parked.
- Glare & visibility
- Tint can soften harsh sunlight. Your choice still needs to preserve a clear view in rain, at night and in shaded parking areas. Darker is not always better for the way you drive.
- Privacy & appearance
- Side and rear window tint can create a more consistent look across your vehicle. Factory privacy glass and aftermarket film are different; we assess the existing glass before recommending a match.
STEK automotive window film
Choose the film.
Then choose the shade.
We use STEK film. Its automotive range includes carbon, nano-ceramic and graphene-infused ceramic technologies. If you are comparing ceramic window tint in Phoenix, ask us which STEK series fits your goals and is currently available.
Two films with a similar appearance can perform differently. We compare film series on published performance, shade, cost, warranty and compatibility with your glass, then confirm the series, shade, price and film warranty with your quote.
Window tinting for your whole vehicle
Windshield
Windshield film for UV and heat, reviewed for placement and requirements, including pre-install film when replacing the glass.
Door & quarter windows
Front and rear side glass, with the existing glass and legal limits considered together.
Back glass
Rear window tint, with attention to defroster lines, existing film and the glass condition.
Sunroof & panoramic roof glass
Ask about film suitable for your specific roof glass. We review compatibility before recommending an application.
Cars, SUVs, minivans and pickups are welcome, including Teslas and luxury vehicles. We confirm the scope for your vehicle; full-vehicle tint does not mean every glass surface uses the same film or shade.
Tesla tint
Tesla window tint
Teslas have a lot of glass, and Arizona sun finds all of it. We tint Tesla side windows and rear glass with STEK film, chosen for the look and comfort you want.
Tesla roof glass varies by model, so we review whether film is suitable for your roof before recommending it. Replacing a Tesla windshield? Ask about having film applied to the new glass before installation.

Can you tint a windshield before installing it?
Yes. Blue Chip Auto Glass offers pre-installation windshield film services using STEK automotive film. Our team can prepare the replacement glass in our dedicated tint area before installation, coordinating the film application with your windshield replacement. If your old windshield had tint, plan on new film for the new glass; tell us the film and shade if you know them.
Do you only tint windshields?
No. We tint front and rear door windows, quarter windows, back glass and compatible sunroof or panoramic roof glass. We review each piece of glass and the film choice before quoting.
Do you use STEK ceramic window tint?
We use STEK automotive window film. STEK's range includes ceramic films and other technologies. We'll confirm the film series and shades available for your vehicle and explain the specifications before you choose.
What does 35% window tint mean?
A 35% VLT film lets about 35% of visible light through under its test conditions. A lower number means darker film. The finished window includes the original glass, so its measured transmission can be lower than the film rating.
Does darker tint block more UV or heat?
Not necessarily. Visible light transmission, UV rejection and solar heat rejection measure different things. Compare the specific film's published data rather than its darkness.
Can you tint over factory privacy glass?
Ask us to assess the glass first. Factory privacy glass already reduces visible light, so adding film changes the final result. We consider the existing glass, visibility and compatibility together.
How much does car window tinting cost?
It depends on the vehicle, the film series, the number and size of windows, and whether old film needs to be removed. Tell us what you want tinted, and whether you're also replacing glass, for an accurate quote.
Is window tinting mobile?
No. Tint is installed in our dedicated tint area by appointment. Mobile service is for eligible windshield replacements with covered parking.
How do I care for fresh window tint?
Follow the instructions for your specific film. We explain when you can lower the windows, when to clean them and which products to use. Drying time varies; contact us about edges, bubbles or haze rather than picking at the film.
Will window film affect my windshield camera or rain sensor?
We review your vehicle's camera, sensor, and glass configuration before recommending a film application. Our installation process accounts for these systems, and any required ADAS recalibration associated with windshield replacement is handled separately.
Can you tint my Tesla?
Absolutely. We offer STEK window tint for Tesla vehicles, including side windows, rear glass, and compatible roof glass. We also offer pre-installation windshield film services when replacing Tesla windshields. Our team reviews your specific model and glass configuration before recommending an application.
